Remote Coffee with Purpose

Fresh beans. Real stories. From farm to carry-on.

Every so often, I travel to coffee-growing regions around the world. While there, I meet smallholder farmers, learn how they grow and process their beans, and carry back a limited quantity of fresh, directly sourced coffee to share with you.

These aren’t bulk imports. They’re intentional, personal, and small-batch — a direct connection between you and the people who grow your coffee.

Support Coffee Families in Ethiopia – And Get Coffee from Its Birthplace

This November, I’m traveling to Ethiopia, the birthplace of coffee, to visit farmers in regions like Kaffa, Yirgacheffe, and Sidama. While I’m there, I’ll purchase fresh coffee beans directly from a small-scale farmer I meet and trust — no middlemen, no big markups, just real beans and real impact.

Read about my Previous Trip to Guatemala in March 2025, here.

See my Photo Gallery for Proof of Concept.

How It Works:

  • I’ll fund my travel independently — no donations needed

  • I’ll buy directly from the farmer, paying them fairly and in full

  • I’ll carry home one checked bag full of beans

  • You’ll receive at minimum a 12oz bag of fresh, farmer-direct Ethiopian coffee

  • Plus: a behind-the-scenes story of where it came from

Proof of Concept: Guatemala, March 2025

In March, I traveled through Guatemala and stayed with a coffee farming family near Lake Atitlán. I hand-carried over 30 lbs of their coffee back to the U.S. — every bag helped support their family directly.

People didn’t just get amazing beans — they got a story in every cup.

Connect with Erwin to buy his beans at erwin.c.chayax@gmail.com or go on your own trip to Guatemala, visit his farm around the beautiful Lake Atitlan. Or contact me and I'll arrange a shipment for you!

This is what I’ll be doing again in Ethiopia this November.

Why This Matters

Most coffee farmers make less than 10 cents per pound — often not even enough to cover their costs. This project offers them a direct path to sell their beans, and it gives you a chance to taste coffee that doesn’t come through five middlemen first.

Thank you for helping me connect people across borders — and for supporting small producers with big stories.

With love and coffee,
